Frequently Asked Questions

Q : Why Therapy
?

Answer: If you are considering therapy as an option, then most likely part of your life is not working out the way you wanted or expected. This may well be because of an event or situation in your life that is causing you distress. Or perhaps you’re struggling with something from your past and your typical coping strategies aren’t working as well as they used to.

Did you know that therapy is also a useful tool when you’re seeking greater insight? Perhaps you need clarity about a decision in your life or are searching for greater self-knowledge.

Regardless of the cause for deciding to seek professional help, the facts are undisputed: professional psychotherapy treatment with a trusted, qualified clinician can lead to deep, positive changes in your resilience and ability to manage the trials of difficult circumstances.

Q : Is tele-therapy HIPAA- compliant
?

Answer: Yes. I offer services through a HIPAA-compliant platform.

Q : What is your new patient procedure
?

During your first visit, I will conduct a comprehensive interview which includes your presenting concerns, developmental and family history, current psychological resources, and goals for treatment. If you meet the criteria of any clinical diagnoses, I will explain those diagnoses to you and provide my recommendations for therapy including potential treatment models, frequency, and expected duration.

Treatment planning is a highly collaborative process and we will work together to outline your preferred next steps to achieve your goals.

I want to ensure that you receive the best care possible. This occasionally may mean referring you to another provider or recommending additional services. I will always be direct about this and do my best to connect you with resources so you can get started as soon as possible.

Q : Are there weekend and after-hour
       appointments available
?

Answer: Weekend and after-hours appointments are available for current clients experiencing a crisis.

Q : What forms of payment  do you accept
?

Answer: Credit cards are accepted through Simple Practice and the payment processor STRIPE, a HIPAA-compliant payment platform.

Q : What is your cancellation policy
?

Answer: Green Mountain Behavioral Health requires that you cancel at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment to avoid a late fee. Late fees will not be covered by your insurance carrier.

Green Mountain Behavioral Health is an Out-of-network provider. I recommend checking with your insurance carrier to see if you are eligible for any session reimbursement.

While Green Mountain Behavioral Health is not able to guarantee reimbursement, I provide documentation known as a “superbill” to submit to your insurance provider. Many insurance plans will
reimburse some out-of-network session costs.

To begin, we recommend that you call your insurance provider and ask them:

• Do I need a referral to begin therapy?
• What are my out of network mental   health benefits?
• Is there a deductible, and how much of it   has been met?
• What is the reimbursement for CPT codes   90791 (initial session) and 90834
(45- minute session)?
• How do I submit reimbursement claims?

Q : Do you provide receipts for self-clients
       seeking insurance reimbursement
?

Answer: Yes. Green Mountain Behavioral Health is happy to provide you with an account superbill which may be submitted by the client to your insurance provider.
